The cannon named as Dal Madol was built by the Malla kings to fight the Maratha invasion. It was built in the year 1742 under Raja Gopal Singh to protect Bishnupur  from Marathas. The Cannon is built with iron materials and doesn’t have any rust, though it is exposed to rain and sun since 18th century. It shows the heritage of the people lived in it.

Bishnupur is a place of immense wondrous and beautiful stuff amongst which the Dal Madol is one as because it portrays the exclusivity of the place up to the mark. This is a canon which has been created and designed in the ancient days and that it was quite an important feature in those days which still beholds significance whatsoever.

Situated in the vicinity of the Chinomasta Temple, this canon is immensely famous on account of the fact that it is essentially made up of iron yet does not catch rust even in spite of being exposed to rain since its inception. This is a major attraction amongst all.
