Tourism is one of the primary industries on the island. The island has pristine white sand beaches, favored by tourists for sun bathing. The calm lagoons on Kavaratti island are ideal for water sports and swimming.

Serving as the Headquarters of Administration, Kavaratti is the most developed and most visited island of Lakshadweep. There are 52 mosques in the island, out of which the Ujra Mosque is the most beautiful. There is a well in adjacent to the mosque, the waters of which are considered to have curative powers. The presence of beautiful and calm lagoon makes the place ideal for water sports like swimming and snorkeling.

There are beaches where beach lovers can bask in the sun or just laze around. Marine life enthusiasts can pay a visit to marine aquarium, which has a vast collection of aquatic specimens on display. Beholding sights of the multihued underwater life in the lagoons from the lowest deck a glass-bottomed boat can be a truly memorable experience. How to get there

Four all weather ships M.V. Bharatseema, M.V Tipusultan, M.V Aminidivi and M.V Minicoy operate between Kochi and the islands. Indian Airlines also operate flight from Kochi to Agatti Island every day except sunday.
